Expert Economic Assessment Finds Fundamental Flaws with the Air Force’s Socioeconomic Analysis
A recent review of the Draft F-35A Training Basing Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) by an expert economist found numerous flaws, omissions, and shortcomings in the Air Force’s socioeconomic impact analysis. The author reached the following conclusion: “The socioeconomic analysis contained in the Air Force’s [DEIS] is fundamentally flawed and grossly insufficient. The DEIS cannot possibly be considered reliable or informative in any way with respect to the true socioeconomic impact of the F-35A Pilot Training Center on the Boise community.”
The expert report highlights the following issues, among many others:
1)
The methodology used by the Air Force ignores the possibility of negative impacts to the economy;
2)
The Air Force fails to conduct any analysis with respect to impacts on quality of life and productivity; and
3)
The Air Force fails to conduct any kind of real-world socioeconomic impact analysis based on places that already deal with extreme noise.

Welcome!
Save Our Valley Now is an association of citizens whose purpose is to increase public awareness of the Air Force's proposal to station 72 F-35 jet aircraft at Gowen Field. Public officials and Air Force representatives have made few efforts to provide balanced information to the public. It is essential that the citizens of the Boise valley understand the true impact that these jets will have on our quality of life, property values, and community as a whole.
Did you know...?
72 F-35s stationed at Gowen Field will fly approximately 50 sorties (one take-off and one landing) each day. While the exact pattern of take-offs and landings may vary, there will typically be 116 take-offs and landings each day over a 16 hour flying window.

Save Our Valley Now Responds to Air Force's Announcement Regarding F-35 Placement
The just released Boise F-35 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) confirms that over 10,000 residents from Maple Grove to Columbia Village within 5 miles of the airport will have their homes reclassified as "Not Suitable for Residential Use" by the FAA when the proposed 72 F-35As arrive and begin flying their 14,000 sorties annually. 1,400 sorties (one take-off and one landing) will be with full afterburner and 1,400 will be at night. Four schools and 13 day care centers will exceed government noise levels for learning, and over 300 cases of hearing loss are estimated. Click here to learn more about the impact on area schools.
